NZMEA & Crusaders Breakfast Workshop: Industry 4.0 - New Technologies Won't Work Without the Human Factor
The NZMEA are running a series of workshops across New Zealand entitled "Industry 4.0 - What we have learnt in Germany." Members and invited guests are invited to join us for breakfast and a special presentation workshop in conjunction with Members of the Crusaders Management Team in Christchurch on Wednesday 5 July. Our focus for this workshop will be "Industry 4.0 - New technologies won't work without the human factor." There will be two parts to this workshop:
Part 1: Industry 4.0 - What we Learnt in Germany:
A delegation of representatives from eleven New Zealand manufacturers recently went on a study tour to Germany to better understand what all the talk about "the fourth industrial revolution" is about. The tour was organised and supported by the NZMEA and Callaghan Innovation and included three days at this year's Hanover Fair, the world's largest industrial exhibition. We also visited seven leading Industry 4.0 developers and use cases and two government R&D facilities.
What we came back with was a much better understanding of what's really behind all the talk about another industiral revolution, who's developing what, and when it will be available to New Zealand manufacturers. Above all, however, we came back with a much clearer impression of which of the processes and technologies subsumed under the 'Industry 4.0' umbrella could be beneficial to our manufacturers, and how we can facilitate the introduction of these to New Zealand.
Workshop presenters will be Delegation leader Dieter Adam, CE of the NZMEA, and another delegate Rick Smith, Operations Manager of Sutton Tools (NZ) Ltd. The programme will include details and examples of what we've seen, personal impressions of what it all means, and, above all, some ideas for the way forward. There will also be plenty of opportunity for you to contribute your own insights and ask questions.
Part 2: Personal Development and its' role in creating world class rugby players and people:
Brad Mooar, Assistant Coach, and Virginia le Bas, Personal Development Manager to the Canterbury Crusaders bring a wealth of information and experience from their current and previous roles. They will focus on the human factor for this workshop, in particular personal development and there will include opportunity to ask questions. Members of the Crusaders Management Team are attending courtesy of EMDA, Official Sponsor of the Crusaders and member of the NZMEA.
